Our Director of Services, Alkin Tezuysal, will be speaking at Percona University, Bangkok, Thailand, with his talk: “Powering AI-Ready MySQL: When MyVector Meets ProxySQL”.
As modern application architectures increasingly incorporate vector-based retrieval and AI queries, traditional MySQL deployments face challenges when integrating without introducing fragmentation.
This session presents a unified architecture that combines MyVector, a native vector extension for MySQL, with ProxySQL as an orchestration layer. This setup creates a single control plane for managing both SQL and vector workloads, enhancing ProxySQL’s routing capabilities for content-aware query classification and dynamic policy enforcement.
We’ll discuss how ProxySQL manages vector-aware traffic, isolates resources between transactional and AI workloads, and oversees embedding pipelines while maintaining MySQL’s stability. Attendees will learn architectural patterns and design considerations for safely evolving MySQL into an AI-capable platform, solidifying its role in modern data workloads.

Alkin Tezuysal – Director of Services at Altinity Inc.
Alkin Tezuysal is the Director of Services at Altinity Inc. He has extensive experience in open-source relational databases, working in various sectors and large functions. With over three decades of industry experience, he has led global operations teams for MySQL and ClickHouse customers and users. He’s a known speaker at worldwide open-source database events.
His recent achievements extend into open-source communities: He was awarded Most Influential in Database Community 2022 by The Redgate 100. He has co-authored MySQL Cookbook, 4th Edition 2022, by O’Reilly Media, Inc. He was awarded MySQL Rockstar 2023—Oracle (MySQL Community)—Co-authored Database Design and Modeling with PostgreSQL and MySQL 2024 by Pack, Oracle ACE Pro 2025 – Oracle ACE Program.
